Resource consumption, inequality, poverty–in our architectural practice, we are surrounded by so-called »wicked problems«–societal, cultural, or ecological issues that, due to their complexity, cannot be precisely defined or solved through simple actions. But how can we, as architects, engage critically with these issues and take a position? How can we even express critique of the present–or should it instead be more about making visible, about highlighting different realities?
In this seminar, we aim to explore together how utopian and speculative thinking can give us the opportunity to address contemporary, transdisciplinary problems and global or local transformation processes beyond architectural practice. Step by step, and following Philip K. Dick, we pursue the question: »If there are plural realities, are some more true (more real) than others?«
